WK 26 Hour of Darkness Message

Before Jesus is led away, Jesus takes advantage of the setting and He briefly calls out the cowardice of the teachers of the law for their nighttime vigilante actions. And in Luke 22 Jesus says this to them. He just looks at them and says, “Am I leading a rebellion that you come at me with clubs and swords? Every day you saw me teaching in the temple courts. You did not lay a hand on me, and you did not say a word to me. But this is your hour—when darkness reigns.

Are MY preferences being catered to? Am I being noticed? Am I being served?” which is the opposite of the question that we should be asking as members of the church. It’s not, “Am I being served?” It’s, “Am I serving?” But we find ourselves, sometimes, with that kind of spirit in the church. You don’t expect to see that in the church (but) sometimes you do. Jesus shows us a different way. He came to serve not be served.
